Helena M. Galvão completed a Bachelor of Science in 1979/05/01 and Masters in Marine Science in 1984/05/01 at College of William and Mary - School of Marine Science., Doktor (PhD) in Dr. rer. Nat. (PhD in Natural Sciences) in 1991/01/02 at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. She is presently Associate Professor in Universidade do Algarve Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia and Member of Scientific Commission in Centro de Investigação Marinha e Ambiental. Published 31 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 2 book chapters. Supervised or co-supervised 6 PhD and 11 MSc dissertations. Participated as Principal investigator in 3 FCT project(s) and Researcher in several FCT and 3 EU projects. She has extensive teaching experience in Earth; Ocean and Atmosphere Sciences in both undergarduate and graduate level courses. Works in the scientific fields of Natural sciences with emphasis on Marine and Environmental Sciences.
