AQUASPACE – Making Space for Aquaculture is a three - year long project funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Horizon 2020 research programme (http://www.aquaspace-h2020.eu/). The central goal is to provide increased space of high water quality for aquaculture by adopting the Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture (EAA) using Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) to deliver food security and increased employment opportunities through economic growth.
In Portugal the AquaSpace Video Competition is promoted by Sagremarisco Lda, partner within the consortium, with the support from the Centre for Marine and Environmental Research from the Algarve University (CIMA-UALG) and the General-Directorate of the School Establishments in the Algarve region (DGEstE-DSRAL).
The theme for the competition was “Da aquicultura para o meu prato”, was directed to students in the secondary schools of the Algarve, with the main objectives of improving the knowledge and perceptions towards the aquaculture industry, in particular the origin and the production methods of the aquaculture products that are locally available.
