Coastal Environmental Observatory of the Southwest of the Iberian Peninsula
Coastal Environmental Observatory of the Southwest of the Iberian Peninsula
The Environmental Coastal Observatory of the Southwest of the Iberian Peninsula (OCASO) is a cross-border project led by Universidad de Cádiz, having as partners Universidade do Algarve, Instituto Hidrográfico de Portugal, Puertos del Estado e Instituto Español de Oceanografía. The main objective is to aggregate oceanographic information and knowledge from this coastal area.
Observation data is collected from various platforms managed by the partners, such as moorings, high frequency coastal radars and oceanographic campaigns, which are obtained with the use of autonomous submarine vehicles (AUV), such as the one operated by UAlg.
Project Main Goals:
Create a complete Transboundary Operational Oceanography framework that integrates observation data with predictive and analytical capabilities of the Southwest Iberian modelling systems.
