About the opportunity
The Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CIMA) invites expressions of interest from PhD researchers looking to apply for the 2024 FCT Individual Call for Scientific Employment Stimulus (CEEC).
CIMA will provide selected candidates with support in preparing and submiƫng their proposals, while actively promoting diversity, gender equality, and the inclusion of underrepresented groups at both national and international levels.
The 2024 FCT Individual CEEC i aims to strengthen the national scientific and technological system by creating employment opportunities for doctoral researchers. This initiative is designed to attract and retain qualified PhD holders in Portugal, contributing to the rejuvenation of scientific institutions. This program also seeks to promote and enhance research and innovation, by addressing key scientific challenges and supporting missions aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
About CIMA/UAlg – ARNET and S2AQUA
CIMA is a research unit of the University of Algarve (UAlg) and a member of the National Network on Aquatic Research (ARNET) Associated Laboratory in Portugal.
CIMA is also a partner in the S2AQUA collaborative laboratory, which aims to transform the aquaculture industry into a more sustainable and intelligent sector. CIMA addresses societal challengesset by the European Union and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through a multidisciplinary approach to marine and environmental research. By employing holistic methods to understand oceanic, coastal, and environmental systems and dynamics.
CIMA applies this knowledge to develop practical solutions and promote the sustainable use of resources. Additionally, CIMA actively engages with society, extending its impact beyond academic to enhance environmental resilience and sustainability from local to global levels.

- A brief narrative CV (max. 500 characters including spaces), including a link to your CiênciaVitae and/or ORCID profile;
- A career development plan outlining your expected career trajectory over the next years and it aligns with CIMA's research areas and mission (max. 500 characters including spaces).
