The short course is designed to foster hands-on expertise, deepen conceptual understanding, and promote teamwork, empowering participants to successfully implement Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) in diverse real-world scenarios. Participants will take part in a comprehensive program that includes process-based learning lectures, and hands-on field excursions led by experts across multiple disciplines, including coastal dynamics, social sciences, and climate adaptation. The curriculum covers a wide array of NbS approaches, such as coastal risk and management, risk communication, ecological restoration, and community-based adaptation.

The Universities of Algarve, Granada and Florida organize a summer course about the Dynamics of Semi-Enclosed Basins, on 1-12 July 2024, in Faro (south Portugal). Through a mixture of theoretical classes and field work activities, the course will provide fundamental concepts of hydro-sediment dynamics in semi-enclosed basins and essential training regarding the collection and processing of in-situ oceanographic data (collected during the course with various instruments). The course is organized in the frame of the SWITCH project, funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT).
