Global Ocean Assessment for managers and decision-makers

The project takes as its starting point the UN report ‘Global Ocean Assessment’, from which it proposes to develop literacy communication products for decision-makers and managers, from an integrated point of view. The Global Ocean Assessment is the first global integrated marine assessment, also known as the first global ocean assessment, and is a document of the Joint Working Group on the Regular Process of the United Nations General Assembly, including aspects of the Global Ocean Assessment.
It includes socio-economic aspects on a continuous and systematic basis, providing regular assessments at global and supra-regional level and an integrated view of environmental, economic and social aspects.
The conclusions of the Ocean Assessment indicate that the capacity of the oceans to sustain human activities and their impacts is at or near its limit, and urgent global action is needed to protect what remains (Ref: WOA Summary (A/70/112), page 40). The project will help publicise the results of regular reviews of the state of the ocean in a simple way, providing information that decision-makers should take into account when making decisions. To this end, it will produce 5 infographic videos with attached fact sheets, aimed at managers and decision-makers, and available to society in general.

Project Main Goals:

The aim of the project is to make known, in a simple but adequate and correct way, the major variables and the general framework of the Ocean Assesment, on the basis of which Action Plans can be better defined for economic, social or environmental action related to the use and conservation of the Ocean. The project therefore aims to fill this gap in the production of the knowledge contained in the Ocean Assesment report and its knowledge and appropriation by its ultimate recipients, by creating and compiling a collection of thematic information sheets following the essential topics of the report, and making illustrative infographic films with increased accessibility for policy makers and different audiences that can then be shared openly and disseminated widely in society.
