CIMA researchers Katerina Kombiadou and Susana Costas, with the collaboration of Dano Roelvink from IHE-Delft (the Netherlands), have published a new article in the Journal of Geophysical Research – Earth Surface on aeolian sediment transport in coastal dunes. An updated and validated version of Duna, a simplified 1D morphodynamic model, is used to assess the impacts of dune shape (height and slope), beach width, vegetation cover and wind angles to wind flow and topographic changes on the dune and to extract draw generalized growth patterns.
