BASIC
Building Resilience in Cartagena Bay
The BASIC project will work together with coastal communities in Cartagena Bay to identify their hopes and expectations for improving drinking water. After technical and financial analyses, the projects prepared by the community itself are consolidated in a proposal in order to obtain financing for future implementation. This project will provide technical support to the community and train young leaders to improve health conditions and develop equity, giving them the technical capacity to negotiate with municipal governments the ongoing initiatives to improve the supply of drinking water. In addition, a water quality monitoring program for the bay will be implemented, including an operational mathematical modelling system capable of forecasting hydrodynamic conditions and any polluting elements in the bay.
