Awards at the 17th Deep-Sea Biology Symposium
During the 17th Deep-Sea Biology Symposium held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), from 12 to 17 January 2025, our PhD student Juliano M. Vilke was awarded 2nd place in the Best Oral Presentation Award for Students. He presented part of his PhD work titled “Are Sea Anemones Useful Tools for Assessing the Ecotoxicological Impact of Deep-Sea Sediments and Manganese Exposure?”.
In addition, Juliano M. Vilke, along with our Postdoctoral Researchers Cármen Sousa and Pasqualina Gaetano, received the 17DSBS Travel Awards from the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI), and the symposium local organizer (HKUST).
