Omics as a tool for metal toxicity assessment in cold-extreme marine environments

Deep-sea mining may release toxic metals (e.g. Mn) into the water column. Metals are contaminants found in Antarctica coastal waters. Cold-adapted organisms from these regions have limited thermal plasticity and are at risk from climate change. This project will investigate the impact of metal exposure and climate change on these species using omics approaches to help discover novel biomarkers that may be useful in future risk assessments.
