CIMA researchers Isabel Mendes, Julia Lübbers, A. Rita Carrasco and Alexandra Cravo, in collaboration with researchers from ICArEHB – Universidade do Algarve, GEOMAR and iDiv (Germany) and University of Graz (Austria), published a new methodological research study providing information on the first field experiment installed in Europe, to increase alkalinity in intertidal environments, as a measure to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
This work provides insights into the experimental design, analytical protocols and performance evaluation, and offers recommendations for scale-up, maintenance and future studies for climate solutions.
